Upgrades For Your Trailer
Trailers go a long way towards simplifying even the toughest jobs, but yours might not be operating to its full potential. The right upgrades and accessories can make your trailer safer, more efficient, and easier to use. We here at Allan Dale Trailers & RVs want to give you a head start, so we’ve put together some of our favorite trailer upgrades. To learn more, or to see the trailers we have for sale, contact our stores in Red Deer and Edmonton, Alberta, today!
Hitch Light
Lights are great all around, but it’s easy to overlook the possibility of a hitch like. Essentially, it highlights the hitch, allowing for improved visibility during the hitching or unhitching process. It can even help out during loading and unloading in the dark or unfavorable weather! Most are magnetic, so simply mount the backing plate where you think it’ll do the most good, and take it off when and where you need to.
Fragile Item Protection
When your cargo is on the more delicate side, you might want to consider an upgrade to keep everything in one piece. Long and fragile items will benefits greatly from this simple DIY storage upgrade. You’ll need:
- A large PVC pipe, around 10’ long and 4” wide.
- An end cap.
- A cleanout adapter.
- PVC cleaner and adhesive.
- Four J-hooks.
Prime and glue the end cap and cleanout adapter, then mount the PVC pipe to the side of your trailer. Secure the J-hooks and connect the tube. Long and fragile items can now be slid into your PVC pipe section for a little extra stability!
Improved Tool Storage
Landscaping tools like rakes and shovels can also benefit from a PVC solution. Cut 36” lengths of PVC pipe, glue on an end cap with a hole drilled into it (for drainage), and attach the pipe. Now you can store those tools vertically, saving space and keeping things in their proper places.
Ramps
You’re probably strong enough to lift heavy, bulky cargo up onto the trailer, but frankly, you just don’t need to be. Installing a trailer ramp can make it easier than ever to load and unload your cargo! There are plenty of ramp kits online, so you don’t need to worry about where to get one. Just make sure it’s compatible with your trailer’s make and model, then connect it, load up, disconnect it, and you’re done!
