Spruce Up
You want your RV to look like the best possible version of itself when you trade it in. Giving the impression that you’ve taken great care of the RV gets you a better price and is courteous to new and prospective owners, to boot! Do everything you can to get it looking like new, including:
- Removing all personal items and decorations from the interior.
- Washing and polishing the exterior.
- Cleaning all windows and mirrors.
- Sweeping and mopping floors, where applicable.
- Cleaning and deodorizing the fridge.
- Emptying and cleaning all storage and cabinets.
- Scrubbing grime and stains out of the kitchen and carpets.
- Airing out your RV and using a mild air freshener to give it a clean scent.
Maintenance
Your RV’s probably put on a few miles, and that means there’s wear and tear and possible damage. Make sure all systems are operating properly and all parts are in good health by doing some maintenance, like:
- Replacing old tires.
- Patching your awning.
- Ensuring the steps into the RV are sturdy.
- Lubricating any slide-outs.
- Replacing burnt-out bulbs.
- Checking the roof and windows for leaks.
- Making sure power and water systems work properly.
- Check the floors for wood rot.
- Change engine oil and inspect spark plugs and battery, where applicable.
Documentation
Finally, make sure you have any and all documentation available for the next owner. Prospective buyers like to know how well the vehicle was maintained and what repairs were made, how long you owned it, how often you used it, etc. A detailed and thorough RV history can only get you a better price on your trade-in.
